"I’d recommend this for artists who don't know much about the industry, but have a serious attitude and want to take steps to move forward."

Hi, I’m Kim Lajoie. I’m a Melbourne-based producer and promoter. I’ve got over two and a half decades of music behind me and my experience has spanned publicity, recording, management, marketing, film composition and much more. I’m also an experienced teacher, having taught music composition and production at Monash University and the Australian Institute of Music in lectures, small groups and one-on-one consultations.

Here are some of the artists I’ve recently worked with:

The Twelve Month Music Plan is based on the music strategy advice I’ve given to artists from a variety of backgrounds including touring the USA with Amanda Palmer, reaching the top-ten on X-Factor and recording for Sony BMG. The Twelve Month Music Plan covers topics like planning promotion campaigns, getting paid for gigs, getting organised with creative projects, using social media effectively and interacting with other people in the music industry.

There’s a strict maximum of eight people at a time – this is to make sure you get the individual attention and assistance you need.

"Working with Kim Lajoie has been a revelation. He understands the business intimately and tailors what he does to fit perfectly with your ambitions. I don't think there's enough praise I can give him for what he has done for me and I recommend him without reservation - he rocks!"
— Barrie

"Kim is a great person to work with because he gives artists the freedom to express their creative vision while preserving what they expect in the finished product. He has a good knowledge of music, is friendly and approachable, and has a systematic approach that is professional and consistent."
— Katie

"The workshop was above my expectations. Material was well presented and relevant. The pace was good and everything was relevant. It opened up my eyes up to different aspects of the music industry that I didn't know. Very helpful. It was really good that everyone was participating too!"
– Jacob

What’s awesome about the Twelve Month Music Plan?

Networking:

You’ll be with 6-8 artists who are all at around the same level, but with different experiences and ideas. We share a wide range of experiences, such as improving vocal technique, booking corporate gigs, TV talent shows, etc. We trade email addresses because everyone is excited to keep in touch.

Planning:

We’ll be talking about how you can put together the different elements of a music plan that’s structured, focussed and realistic. You won’t just get a template to fill in the blanks - this is about education and building your understanding so that you can make a plan that suits your needs.

Mentoring:

After the planning day, you’ll receive one-on-one mentoring for the following twelve months to make sure your plan works for you and gets the results you want. You’ll also have the opportunity to talk about new ideas and opportunities and discuss strategies for staying motivated and focussed.

You’ll finish the planning day feeling excited and motivated and you’ll have a step-by-step action plan so you can hit the ground running.

And then you’ll receive one-on-one mentoring for the following twelve months so you stay motivated, focussed and on-track. We’ll also make sure your plan doesn’t fall behind the couch and get forgotten.

The Twelve Month Music Plan is for you if:

The Twelve Month Music Plan is not for you if:

Most artists just sit around making excuses

"I’m not talented or popular enough!"
"It's not what you know, it’s who you know!"
"I don’t want to sell out!"

They use their excuses to help them feel better about their lack of achievement. Unfortunately, these kinds of excuses hold them back from achieving greater success with their music. They let their fear get the best of them.

You, however, are different.

I know that because you’ve read this far and you’re still interested. You’re more likely than the average musician to take action and progressively grow your audience. You’re more likely than the average musician to roll up your sleeves and do the hard work of finding and connecting with your most loyal supporters. You’re more likely than the average musician to consistently work toward making sure next year is bigger than this year.

You probably still feel fear, but you’re determined to overcome it. You know that growing your music is more important than surrendering to your fear.

You’ve chosen the Twelve Month Music Plans because you’re proactive and committed to your music.

"It was better than I thought it would be. I was a bit nervous at first, but it was a very encouraging and relaxed environment. I felt comfortable being honest."
– Mel

"I credit Kim's tutelage as being pivotal in helping me to progress, especially after I had time to absorb it and integrate it into my listening habits of other music."
— Brian

"How relevant and useful was the workshop material? Bang on. So many plans now all from that one day!"
– Jess
